What does an IT audit include and why is it needed?

An IT audit is the evaluation of an organization's IT system to determine its strengths and weaknesses. It includes an analysis of the hardware and software infrastructure, information flow management procedures, security measures, user service policies, the effectiveness of the use of information technology in business processes, and much more.

An IT audit is necessary to:

  • ensure that the information system meets the requirements of the business;
  • identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the IT system and take steps to eliminate them;
  • improve the effectiveness of the use of information technology in operational processes;
  • ensure the security and integrity of corporate data;
  • evaluate the effectiveness of information resource management;
  • be prepared to update/modernize IT system.
